Finished my next Toxic World novel!

After a three-day marathon of writing, I finished the first draft of my next Toxic World novel--Refugees from the Righteous Horde! The action begins only a couple of weeks after the events in Radio Hope and looks at the results of the invasion by the mad cult that's central to the plot of the first book.

Refugees came out to 88,595 words, considerably longer than Radio Hope, which was 71,000 words. I need to tighten up the middle so it will probably end up slightly shorter, like 86,000 words.

But that will have to wait. I'm off to Oxford for two weeks and will be doing some freelance articles plus getting to work on Trench Raiders, the first of my series of World War One action novels. After clearing my head for a couple of weeks I'll come back to Refugees and start editing.

This image of a writing lesson in a Muslim school in Turkestan in the late 19th century has nothing to do with anything. I just like it.

Congratulations, Sean. I would say you're probably feeling great, having finished it, but you've written so many books, to paraphrase B.B. King: The thrill has lessened?

Sioux: I suppose the thrill of each individual book has decreased a bit, but there's the added thrill of an accumulating body of work.

Congratulations on finishing! I've been thinking, maybe shorten the title to Refugees from the Horde. Although of course it's entirely up to you.
