EP1: Writing in Lockdown: A Pep Talk and Writing Exercise

I'm finishing up my third week of lockdown with a lot of time on my hands, so I decided to create a Youtube channel. The Productive Writer will have regular videos on writing advice, exercises, and tips to make you a better and more successful writer.

Sean--You nudged/cattle-prodded me into writing a page of a WIP that's been stagnant since January. (I've been busy querying agents/publishers for an earlier manuscript. However, your exercise reminded me that I should devote a small amount of time every day to writing, since it's only 15,000 words... In Sean Time, that less than a week's worth of work. ;)

What I wrote when I paused your video: a bathroom scene (the bathroom being a place to hide) in a contemporary YA novel about a cutter who gets to know Emmett Till via her research and dreams.

Thanks for the encouragement. Maybe I will listen or fast-forward your video every day, pause it, and get at least a page down every day.

I'm glad you're getting loads of writing done every day, but sorry to hear that a couple of deals fell through. We'll be changed people by the time this is over... Hopefully the change will be for the better.

Stay safe and healthy. And thanks.
