What Novel Should I Write Next?

The year is ending and I’ve been thinking about what novel I want to start at the beginning of 2009. This year I started my latest novel on Jan. 2 and finished the first draft by June. I like the idea of starting a new novel on the new year. Plus I have two nonfiction books due in the next two weeks, and then no major deadlines looming for several months. January is the time.
My problem is, I don’t know what novel I want to start. One of my novels, a horror story set in Civil War Missouri, is being considered by an agent. I’m getting a clear idea of what I want to put in the sequel, but I’ve also been thinking about a modern, non-genre novel I want to write. It’s partially set in Oxford and London and since I’ll be living there for six months in 2009, perhaps I should do that one. Also, since I haven’t sold my Civil War novel, writing its sequel doesn’t make much sense at this time, but I have a much clearer idea of where I want to go with it.
So. . .do I do the book that’s more ready to come out, even if it’s not the practical one to do, or do I do the modern book? I’ll be getting into that one when I go to Oxford in April anyway, so I’d end up having to stop the Civil War book then.
What to do?

Oxford? Are you kidding me? I hate you! Ok, I don't...I'm just VERY jeolous. I had a terrible time trying to figure out what to write next. I HATE being between books and not sure what I should do next. I opted for the one I really WANTED to do...I think you should do the one you feel more passion for. If you're anything like me, it will light a much needed flame under the muse's butt and get him/her moving again. Just MHO...:)
